Heaven Changes Everything by Todd & Sonja Burpo

Heaven Changes Everything by Todd and Sonja Burpo is an extension of the first book, Heaven is For Real.  In the first book, Colton Burpo, retells his story of visiting heaven.  It would be a good idea for anyone interested in reading this book, to have read the first book, so that they know the details of the story and to enjoy this one fully.
This book is written by Colton's parents, Todd and Sonja.  Each chapter opens with a brief excerpt from Heaven is For Real, followed by a narrative that builds on the principles of the excerpt or discusses events that have happened since the publication of the first book, a thought to contemplate and finally a Bible verse linked to the devotion's main point. The topics covered vary from serving, grieving, the afterlife, evangelism, prayer and many more.

It was great reading the "mom details" written by Sonja.  It also contains snippets from the rest of the children and how they've dealt with things since the story happened.

This book would be a great gift for just about anyone but especially for those dealing with a loss of a child. Bundle this book with Heaven Is For Real and it becomes a great tool for sharing Christ with someone experiencing loss or struggling with every day struggles as their story offers hope beyond those struggles.

Red Letter Revolution: What If Jesus Really Meant What He Said? by Shane Claiborne and Tony Campolo

Red Letter Revolution is a book based on an extended dialogue between the two authors about what would really happen if believers and non-believers alike would live out the red letters of the Bible - which are the words of Jesus.  The Red Letter Revolution is a call to a lifestyle that considers first and foremost Jesus' explicit message of sacrificial love.  Red Letter Revolution is a blueprint for a new kind of Christianity

The authors candidly talk about the words of Jesus on contemporary issues of Islam, hell, violence, civil disobedience and many other critical topics of today.

The book contains three main sections:
Part 1: Red Letter Theology
Part 2: Red Letter Living
Part 3: Red Letter World

This book is dedicated "To all of us, young and old, who want a Christianity that looks like Jesus again."

If the Jesus who speaks to you through the Gospels is at odds with the Christian culture you know, if you have ever wanted to stand up and say, “I love Jesus, but that’s not me,” Red Letter Revolution will prove that you are not alone—you may have been a Red Letter Christian all along.

Courageous Teens - Michael Catt, Amy Parker

In the same way Courageous touched the lives of those who read the book or seen the movie, Courageous Teens will do the same for your teenager or soon-to-be teenager.  My 14 year old and I were both blown away by Courageous, so when the opportunity came up to read and review Courageous Teens, we jumped at the chance!  And this book did not disappoint.

My daughter and I read and worked our way through this book together.  She just devoured it and wants to share it with all the teens of her youth group.  She knows that she, and her friends, can be more than just average Christians and that they shouldn't settle for being just average Christians.  We plan on sharing this book with the youth leader.

Courageous Teens is a book that allows itself to be a individual bible study or a small group bible study. Each section is 2 or 3 chapters, ending with Think Courageously questions to ponder. Then at the end of each section you have a recap that ask some great questions and allows for practical application.
If you have teens now, preteens that will be teens soon, then grab a copy of this book.
Lets help our teens lead and live a courageous life.

I'd like to thank Handlebar Marketing for the complimentary copy of this book.

Christmas Uncut - Carl Laferton

Christmas Uncut is short, funny, friendly and easy-to-read.  Scandal. Controversy. Massacres. Mystery. Christmas?  Yes, you'll find them all in this very simplistic, up-front teaching of the real, first Christmas.
While the true story of Christmas has often been lost amidst the children's nativity plays, this book retells the Christmas story and explains the gospel message as it does so.  This book can easily be read in one sitting, as it's only 64 pages. This is a great resource for new believers and even for those who think they know the true story.

I wish to thank Cross Focused Reviews for the complimentary copy of this book.
